However, only shampooing and conditioning are not enough to maintain your hair healthy and lustrous. For superb style it’s also important to include a deep conditioning treatment to ensure your locks are in optimal shape. Here are several homemade hair treatments that you can learn and apply to your haircare routine. These are simple and easy to do:

Avocado Deep Conditioner for Dry Hair

Avocados are not just delicious, they are also fantastic for treating dry and brittle hair. It contains benefitial fatty acids, phytosterols, and high levels of antioxidants like vitamin E contributes to a highly moisturizing and protective effect against environmental stressors and damage. In addition, it may also stimulate new growth and help unclog blocked follicles. Here is how you can do the mask:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed well
  • 2 tablespoons pure or organic honey
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil

Directions:

Mash avocado into a fine paste. Add oil and honey into the bowl and mix well.

Apply to clean, wet hair. Cover hair with a plastic shower cap or Saran wrap and let sit for one hour.

Rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and condition as normal.

 Olive Oil Hair Treatment

The next ingredient that offers a lot of benefits for your hair – olive oil. If you’re in a hurry, you can use a tiny amount on your finger tips to tame split ends and fly-aways. Olive oil has been an essential ingredient in hair health since ancient times. This wonderful oil is rich in vitamin E and healthy fat. Prevent breakage and strengthen hair strands by using olive oil to hydrate dry or brittle hair.

Here are some easy olive oil hair treatments for your hair:

Ingredients:

  • ½ ripe avocado, mashed
  • ½ ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

Puree avocado and banana together until no clumps by using a fork to mash or a blender. Add in beaten egg and olive oil. Mix thoroughly.

Apply to dry hair and leave in for 15 to 30 minutes.

Rinse with cool water.

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Greek Yogurt Protein Treatment

Greek yogurt is not only great for your body but also your hair as it can provide more protein to your hair compared to the normal yogurt.

Ingredients:

  • ¼- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

Directions:

Use the amount of yogurt needed for your hair’s thickness and length.

Apply to clean, dry hair. Massage gently into scalp and work down to coat right to the ends. Leave on for 20 – 60 minutes.

Rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and condition as normal.

Banana and Honey Mask for Fine or Thin Hair

Bananas nourish the scalp and hair follicles, help maintain natural hair elasticity, and prevent breakage and split ends. Together with honey, they will add moisture and shine to even the dullest head of hair.

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 bananas depending on size
  • 1-2 tablespoon(s) of honey

Directions:

Mash the banana nicely and then add the honey to your mashed bananas.

Apply the mixture to clean dry or slightly damp hair. Cover with a shower cap, towel or saran wrap and wait 20-30 minutes.

Rinse out hair mask. Shampoo and condition as normal.
